Rear Admiral Dimitrios EFSTATHIOU was born in Salamis in 1965. He graduated from the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1989.

During his sea duty assignments, he served at several posts including Crypto, Navigation Officer, Executive Officer and CO. His command tours include Commanding Officer of Patrol Boat HS NIKH and Frigate HS SALAMIS, deputy Commander of Naval Base of Salamis and Commander of the Hellenic Training Center PALASKAS.

During his shore and staff assignments, he served at various posts within the Fleet Command HQ and the Hellenic National Defense General Staff.

He has served also as a staff officer at the Intelligent Department of the NATO International Military Staff HQ Brussels and as Military Advisor of the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nation and as a member of the United Nations Special Committee for Peacekeeping Operations C-34.

He holds a M.Sc. title in «Geopolitical and Geostrategic Analysis, Defense Studies and International Security» from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, «Diploma in Negotiations» from Athens University of Economics and Business and certificate of attendance of the program «Developing as a Leader» from HARVARD Business Publishing School. He has also graduated from the National Defense School and the Hellenic Joint War College.

He has been awarded with all the medals, decorations and commendations stipulated for an officer of his rank and seniority.

He is married and has two daughters.
