Deputy Director of the Hellenic Navy Hydrographic Service

Cdr Dimitrios EVANGELIDIS was born in Thessaloniki – Macedonia in 1965. He is a 1987 graduate of the Hellenic Naval Academy.

Following graduation he served in various navy warships and he became a navigational officer.

During his career he has attended various Navy and Joint Military Schools and Seminars.

In 1991 he was appointed for the first time in the Hellenic Navy Hydrographic Service. He has served is HNHS from different posts and was HN representative in various national and international fora related to Oceanography, Electronic Nautical Charts and NATO Geospatial Policy.

He holds a Masters Degree in Physical Oceanography received in Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Monterey (1996).

His last post was Head of NATO Oceanographic Information Centre (NOIC) in Allied Maritime Command Naples (MCC Naples), participating to Operations Active Endeavor, Ocean Shield and Unified Protector.

Cdr Evangelidis assumed his responsibilities as a Deputy Director of HNHS on August 26, 2011.

He is married to Niovi and proud father of two children.
