SEA LEVEL OBSERVATION STATIONS

Hellenic Navy Hydrographic Service maintains a quite dense network of permanent tide gauge stations equipped with instruments for measuring sea surface temperature. In some locations tide data are observed for more than 20 years.

All the tide gauges have been connected by levelling with tide poles which located close to them and frequently supervised by the Service's personel, cooperating with coastv guard or port authorities.

Observations aquired by the above mentioned tide gauges, are of crucial importance from scientific and technical point of view (i.e. Hydrography, sea surface height mesurments, tide height prognosis, impact of meteorological conditions in sea surface changes, geoid observations, LLWT, HHWT, marine engineering e.t.c.) and also for marine sail safety.

Sea surface detailed data can be obtained by contacting us at the phone number +30210-6442966 or by e-mailing to address hydro@hnhs.gr.
